California Tribe Meets with Mohegans

CALIFORNIA – As reported by the Palms Springs Desert Sun: "The only Coachella Valley tribe without a casino may turn to one of the biggest-name tribes in the gaming world to help see its fledgling projects to fruition.

"Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians met last week with the Mohegans, a tribal gaming powerhouse that owns the massive 240-acre Mohegan Sun Casino complex and retail center in Connecticut.

"Talks with the tribe -- known as the Wolf People -- come as Torres Martinez officials eye construction of a large casino in Coachella and a smaller one in Imperial County.

"…The significance of the talks for Torres Martinez could be a collaboration with a tribe whose Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn., has become one of the largest entertainment destinations in the country…"
