California Tribe Makes Second Casino Revenue Payment6 October 2004CALIFORNIA – As reported by the California Daily Democrat: "A $3.5 million check made out to Yolo County was handed over by the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians Tuesday. "…This is the second payment by the band for effects to the County due to the Cache Creek Casino Resort expansion. "'Yolo County has worked hard to develop a good working relationship with the Rumsey Band so that we could effectively resolve some of the public safety, transportation, air quality, land use and other community impacts from the casino's expansion,' said Supervisor Mike McGowan, who accepted the check on behalf of the county. "…So far, the money has funded increased law enforcement patrols in Capay Valley, fire prevention and safety measures, water and air quality monitoring, noise and light studies, pedestrian safety measures, road improvements and other mitigation efforts…" |
