"It would allow the Tachi Yokuts tribe, which runs the casino, to save a few million on the project.

"The benefit for the county would be to help bring hundreds of jobs into an area recently hit by the Budget Call Center's closure in Lemoore, which is laying off about 300 people.

"…The creative financing option proposed by tribal officials would use Kings County's government status to apply for tax-exempt loans, which would result in a lower interest rate loan for tribe.

"Kings County could use a Joint Powers Authority that exists with a housing agency to issue tax-exempt bonds. Kings County would then loan the money to the tribe.

"The tribe would pay the money back directly to bond holders.

"…$ $95 million project would demolish a bingo hall and administrative building to make room for a casino expansion that includes a 250-room hotel.

"…Supervisors, who heard the proposal Tuesday, say they will be open-minded about a project that would bring in hundreds of jobs and tourism dollars.

"…Tribal leaders say the project will proceed regardless of whether the county helps with the deal…"
