California Tribal Casino Plans Not Rescinded

CALIFORNIA – As reported by the Amador Ledger Dispatch: "California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's administration has no plans to rescind a gaming compact with the Buena Vista Band of Me-Wuk Indian tribe, which wants to open a casino in Amador County.

"District 1 state Sen. Dave Cox called the casino a 'terrible idea' and said the governor's legal staff notified him of their intentions.

"…Cox, in a Dec. 5 meeting with Schwarzenegger's staff, asked for the office to rescind the compact, after the governor's legal office notified the tribe to tell them that their Tribal Environmental Impact Report did not satisfy the requirements of the compact, which was amended in September 2004…"
