California tribal casino plan faces arbitration14 March 2008CALIFORNIA -- As reported by the Amador Ledger Dispatch: "Arbitration is likely the next step in the march toward a second Indian gaming casino in Amador County. "The county's Board of Supervisors deadlocked Tuesday for the second week in a row over whether to accept a multi-million-dollar agreement with the casino backers. "The vote was taken in spite of a letter from John Tang, chief executive officer of the Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians, accepting two county demands but conditioning that acceptance on the supervisors' approval of the Intergovernmental Services Agreement at Tuesday's meeting. "...The termination of negotiations, according to the letter, would be effective on Wednesday and would constitute the tribe's notice that it intends to proceed with binding arbitration..." |
