California Tribal Casino Opens Addition

CALIFORNIA – As reported by the Southern California Press-Enterprise: "A desert tribe that paved the way for Indian casinos nationwide opened the doors Tuesday to its newest addition, a 12-story hotel and 100,000-square-foot special-events center.

"The $200 million addition to the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino is part of the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians' continuing expansion efforts. The tribe opened a 15,000-square-foot high-tech bingo facility with seating for 750 people earlier this year. More projects are in the works.

"…Fantasy Springs' opening comes amid other tribal casino expansions in the Inland area, and as Southern California tribes move to take advantage of the growing popularity of the businesses. Tribal gaming has grown in the region since California voters endorsed the industry in 2000, leading to the enactment of tribal-state gaming agreements.

"…Cabazon's new hotel is the Coachella Valley's tallest man-made structure at more than 120 feet. It is topped with the Sunset View rooftop bar, where tribal members and other invited VIPs sipped drinks and munched on chilled shrimp Tuesday…"
