California Town Opposes Proposed Casino

PETALUMA, California -- As reported by the Associated Press: "The Petaluma City Council has voted to oppose an Indian casino proposed for Rohnert Park, joining a number of Sonoma County communities who don't want the gambling palace built.

"Monday night's unanimous vote came after council members warned of problems with traffic, crime and lost sales tax.

"…The council urged Congress to limit the ability of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria to build a casino wherever it wishes. Such legislation is on the table, but so far has gone nowhere. .."
