California Summit Discusses Casino Issues15 September 2006TEMECULA, California – As reported by the Press Enterprise: " The theme of Thursday's 2006 Southwest California Summit did not mince words -- "California: Move it or lose it." "Members of a five-person panel discussion at the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce-sponsored summit expressed concern about issues from traffic to Indian gaming, but also had cause for optimism. "…The Legislature's failure last month to bring up for a vote gaming compacts that would have added thousands of slot machines to the operations of four Inland tribes was unfortunate, Pechanga Development Corp. First Vice President Anthony Miranda told the audience. "…'We are approaching a $6 billion industry with 55,000 jobs,' he said. 'Years ago, we were largely ignored in walking the halls of the Legislature. We do have to protect our governmental interests.'
