California Lottery Brings in Record Results

SACRAMENTO, California -- The California Lottery had a record $3.33 billion in sales in the fiscal year that ended June 30, lottery officials said Thursday.

That enabled the games to generate $1.17 billion for public schools, the fifth straight year that education funding from the lottery has topped $1 billion.

Scratchers games brought in more than half the lottery's revenue -- $1.73 billion -- and Super Lotto Plus and the new Mega Millions game generated $1.11 billion altogether. Fantasy 5, Daily 3, Hot Spot and Daily Derby brought in $487 million.
