California Indian Gambling Lobby Director Resigns

SACRAMENTO, California – As reported by the San Diego Union-Tribune: "Jacob Coin, the executive director and perhaps the most prominent figure in the state's dominant Indian gambling lobby, resigned this week in what may be another sign of turmoil within the powerful organization.

"…Neither Coin nor Anthony Miranda, chairman of the organization widely known as CNIGA, would discuss what prompted the resignation. Coin had been in the job for four years

"…Coin, an aggressive, outspoken advocate for the state's gaming tribes, has accepted a position with the maverick San Manuel band of San Bernardino County, several sources said.

"San Manuel, which operates one of the most successful casinos in the state, was one of the first big tribes to leave CNIGA…"
