California Gaming Company donates $150K to charity

1 March 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Stones Gambling Hall in Sacramento and Seven Mile Casino in San Diego today both announced two $75,000 donations, one to Woman Escaping A Violent Environment (WEAVE), the primary provider of crisis intervention services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Sacramento County, and one to South Bay Community Services (SBCS), a community-based nonprofit that provides a comprehensive range of services and programs for children, youth and families in San Diego County.

"We are incredibly appreciative of the recognition and generous donation from Stones Gambling Hall to help our organization serve people in our region and to be part of building a community that does not tolerate sexual assault, domestic violence, and sex trafficking," said Beth Hassett, CEO and Executive Director of WEAVE. "This is a great example of how businesses can work with their communities to help those in need."

"The Big 24-Hour Giveback" was a philanthropic event that lasted 24 hours between 28 February and 1 March, where $100 was donated for each person who walked through the doors at Stones Gambling Hall and Seven Mile Casino. This inaugural fundraiser was an opportunity for communities to come together and enhance the quality of life for survivors of domestic violence, children and families.

"I've worked in gaming for over 30 years and finally there is a leader in our industry that is not only giving back to the community, but also is changing the way the gaming industry is perceived in a positive way," said Kermit Schayltz, partner and former President of the California Gaming Association. "Furthermore, Stones Gambling Hall and Seven Mile Casino are dedicated to providing quality living wage jobs, a smoke-free and healthy work environment, education scholarships, and partnerships and donations to charities and first responders."

"Today is a celebration of honoring the people that work tirelessly to help women and families in need," said Ryan Stone. "Supporting local causes and community integration has always been a priority for me and my partners, and we look forward to our continued efforts and being a resource to invaluable organizations."

The Tavern and The Saloon at Stones Gambling Hall is Sacramento's newest, premier card room. Stones offers first-class gaming and entertainment for visitors and locals alike. This newly constructed gambling hall features two state-of-the-art card rooms, including blackjack and poker, exciting table games and a full-service restaurant and bar.
