California casino tribe gives $200,000

CALIFORNIA -- As reported by the California Press Enterprise: "The tribe that operates River Rock Casino in Alexander Valley has allocated almost $200,000 to two fire departments and the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department.

"The Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians announced the largest grant, $89,925, went to the Geyserville Fire Protection District for new personal safety equipment.

"The Healdsburg Fire Department received $51,872 to help fund a training officer and the Sheriff's Department got $47,825 for enhanced enforcement services.

"...Since the program was authorized in 2003, the Dry Creek Pomo tribe has distributed more than $1.2 million to law enforcement, fire protection and hospital agencies in northern Sonoma County..."
