California Casino Proposed Under Review

CALIFORNIA – As reported by the (California) Press-Democrat: "Federal officials this week begin an environmental review of a proposed casino outside Rohnert Park, inviting residents to comment on the project.

"The National Indian Gaming Commission will hold a public hearing Wednesday in Santa Rosa to identify environmental issues associated with the casino and resort hotel planned just west of Rohnert Park city limits.

"…Casino opponents hope to pack the hearing in an attempt to derail the controversial project.

"…Opponents have raised many environmental issues about the casino resort, including fears the project would deplete ground water, create massive traffic problems and be built on land prone to flooding. They claim it also will destroy habitat of endangered plants and the tiger salamander…"
