California Casino Opens to Public

5 November 2003

The agency also had transferred the casino's gaming license from the aging, existing structure on North Indian Canyon Drive to the new building a couple blocks away on Calle Encilia.

"There was no time to promote a soft opening, but word spread anyway as several hundred patrons found their way into the new casino 30 minutes after the doors opened at 8 p.m.

"…Spread out over more than 130,000 square feet, the new Spa Resort Casino has more than 1,000 slot machines, 30 table games, four restaurants, two bars and a lounge that Monday night featured the sounds of local blues/rock stalwart Kal David and the Real Deal.

"…The new casino's grand opening is still on tap for Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m…"
