California casino opens Asian restaurant

12 November 2010

INDIO, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- He's known around the world as "Yan Can Cook" and for one very special night, celebrity chef Martin Yan, plus many other notable guests, celebrated a culturally significant grand opening in the Palm Springs area. November 9th marked the Grand Opening celebration of the newest restaurant at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, JOY Asian Cuisine. This, however, was no ordinary grand opening with a simple champagne toast. The public marveled at the acrobatics and subtle comedy during the traditional Chinese lion dance in the casino's valet area and through the casino floor. Chef Martin Yan followed the lion dancers through the casino, passing out gold chocolate coins and taking photos with guests along the way. Spectators watched a ceremonial ribbon cutting by dignitaries and members of the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians and a gift exchange. Recognizing that JOY is the first dining establishment in the Palm Springs area to infuse direct-from-Asia cuisine into its menu, Chef Martin Yan and actor George Cheung took time out of their busy schedules to help celebrate the restaurant's grand opening.

JOY Asian Cuisine is now open seven days a week from 11:00a.m. until 12:00a.m. The menu fare will make diners who are accustomed to traditional Asian dishes feel very comfortable, while at the same time features dishes familiar to westerners. Guests can experience the creations of Chef de Cuisine, Dayu Zhang from Jilin, China. The extensive menu presents options from China, Korea, Vietnam and Thailand with many seafood and vegetarian options available. JOY is located just inside of the casino valet entrance.
