California Casino Land Sale Delayed1 September 2004RICHMOND, California – As reported by the KRON 4: "A Contra Costa County Superior Court judge ruled Monday that the city of Richmond would have to delay its plan to approve the sale of Point Molate to a casino developer for an anticipated $50 million. "The City Council was scheduled to authorize the agreement with Upstream Investments at a meeting tonight, according to city officials. "But Contra Costa County Superior Court Judge David Flinn temporarily barred the sale in response to ChevronTexaco's request for a temporary restraining order, a spokesman for Richmond Mayor Irma Anderson said this morning. "…Upstream Investments has plans with the Guidiville Band of Pomo Indians to build a Las Vegas-style casino resort, which includes a hotel, shopping center, numerous restaurants and a gaming hall on Point Molate, according to O'Hair…" |
