California Casino Changes Name

4 February 2005

CALIFORNIA – As reported by the California Press-Enterprise: "The tribal owner of the Trump 29 Casino revealed Thursday a new -- actually, old -- name for its gaming complex in Coachella, ending its three-year relationship with the Trump organization.

"The Twentynine Palms Band of Mission Indians will call the property Spotlight 29 Casino, the casino's name before taking on the Trump moniker in April 2002.

"…Tribal and casino officials said they are reviving the original name because they are proud of the casino's success when the tribe operated the complex between 1994 and 2002.

"They estimate it will cost about $3 million to change the logos. The process might take a while since everything from the casino marquees to the felt on the gaming tables will have to be changed, said Ray DelFiandra, the casino's general manager.

"To maintain brand recognition, the tribe will make only a slight alteration to the logo, a partially encircled number 29. Trump's name to the left of the symbol will be replaced with the revived moniker.

"…Casino officials said the buyout will allow them to focus on building a hotel and spa on the property to compete with two large hotels that opened in December at casinos in Cabazon and Indio."
