Caesars Sportsbook releases odds for Super Bowl LVIII

29 January 2024

(PRESS RELEASE) -- With the matchup for Super Bowl LVIII on 11 February set, Caesars Sportsbook has posted odds for the game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs as the year’s most exciting sporting event prepares to take over Las Vegas for the first time. The game opened with the 49ers as a two-point favorite, but within an hour, the early interest in the Chiefs shortened the spread to 49ers -1. On the money line, the Chiefs are listed at +100 while, the 49ers are at -120. The Total for the game is currently set at 47.5 points after opening at 48. This year Caesars Sportsbook will again offer thousands of exciting ways to wager on the game, including new FireBets, quick-pick same-game parlays, Super Bowl Squares, and, of course, the extensive Super Bowl LVIII Prop Betting Menu that will be unveiled soon.

Quotes from Adam Pullen, Caesars Sportsbook Assistant Director of Trading
On the opening line
“Going into the week we set lookahead lines that had the 49ers as a 3-point favorite against the Chiefs. Judging by what transpired today, we shortened the 49ers a bit given their recent defensive struggles, and the Chiefs looking dominant in Baltimore shutting down the Ravens. At the end of the day, it comes down to the eye test. In a reverse scenario, maybe we are back to -3 with the 49ers.”

On the early wagering action
“The early action is showing a steady stream of money the Chiefs’ way, resulting in us going to -1 49ers within the first hour.”

On the potential for breaking the Nevada record for Super Bowl wagering handle ($179.8 million)
“When you have the next-door neighbor [the 49ers] coming in for the Super Bowl and the game being in Las Vegas, it’s safe to expect records might be set handle-wise this year.”

Super Bowl Betting Trends

- The Over cashed in last year’s Super Bowl ending a streak of four straight Unders hitting in the Super Bowl.
- This is poised to be the 15th straight Super Bowl, with the favorite laying fewer than 7 points, extending the longest streak in the game's history.
- Underdogs have covered the spread in 15 of the last 23 Super Bowls, including last season when the Chiefs pulled an outright upset over the Eagles.
- Favorites are an impressive 36-21 SU and 29-26-2 ATS overall.
