Caesars, National Park Trust team up for National Kids to Parks Day

22 May 2012

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- From Pennsylvania to California, 35 of Caesars Entertainment Corporation’s properties across the country have pledged their support for a simple concept: helping families engage with parks to create a healthy environment for themselves and their children.

Caesars Entertainment’s employee volunteers, known as HEROs, will host park events across the country to promote conservation and outdoor recreation as part of National Park Trust’s (NPT) signature National Kids to Parks Day (KTP) initiative – a grassroots movement that encourages children and families to get outside and explore local, state and national parks in their community.

Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City has selected Wednesday, May 30, 2012 as its local Kids to Parks Day event to be held at Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Oceanville, New Jersey. Held from 8am – 2pm, 60 fifth grade students from the New York Avenue School in Atlantic City will visit and participate in the day’s activities which include a hands-on pond and salt marsh ecology study.

“As a youth growing up just outside of Atlantic City, I have fond memories of enjoying the surrounding beaches of Brigantine, so the idea of encouraging young people to really get out there and explore nature is an initiative I strongly support,” said Don Marrandino, Eastern Division President for Caesars Entertainment. “It’s pretty special to see the level of commitment shown by our Atlantic City employees and members of the surrounding community when it comes to our Green movement. And with 60,000 individuals set to participate across the United States, National Kids to Parks Day will be one of our biggest successes to date,” continued Marrandino.

Caesars’ participation in National Kids to Parks Day initiative is an extension of its previous efforts with NPT to educate school children and families across the country about the responsible use of natural resources by engaging them with parks and green spaces in their community.

Caesars plays an important role in each community in which it is privileged to operate, and is committed to making them better, more vibrant places to live and work. Last year, the company’s dedicated HEROs contributed more than 126,000 hours to initiatives that strengthened the wellbeing of communities and the environment, reaffirming the pledge made in its Code of Commitment.

"We are excited to work with Caesars properties across the country to encourage children and their families to explore their neighborhood parks and nature and discover the history and outdoor recreational opportunities right around the corner or just across town," said Grace Lee, executive director, NPT. “This year, Caesars was our first KTP corporate sponsor and is a valued partner in promoting this national day of play
