Caesars Fined for Spying on Women16 December 2004ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "Surveillance crews manning the so-called eye-in-the-sky security cameras at Caesars Atlantic City used them to spy on female customers and employees. "On a handful of occasions in 2000 and 2001, surveillance operators 'recorded footage of selected parts of the anatomy of several females' while the women were sitting at gaming tables or riding escalators at the Boardwalk casino, state gaming regulators said. "As a result, the Casino Control Commission fined Caesars $80,000 Wednesday for violating statutes governing the use of surveillance equipment. The company, which did not contest the fine, had no comment afterward. "Hidden in the ceilings at every casino hotel, surveillance cameras are supposed to be used to surreptitiously monitor the gaming floor and other sensitive areas of the building for cheating, theft or other suspicious activity. "Instead, surveillance operators at Caesars trained their cameras on women wearing low-cut necklines or other revealing clothing, according to the allegations in the case…" |
