Bus brings gamblers to French Lick casino

INDIANA – As reported by the Martinsville Reporter-Times: "They come and go from the front entrance all day long, dropping off people who come to see glitz and glamour, with hopes of taking home some gold.

"Gamblers are flocking by the thousands — by bus — to the French Lick Resort Casino.

" 'We had approximately 12,000 people come through, during our first two weeks, on buses,' said Brenda Rutherford, the casino's motor coach marketing manager. 'Our biggest audience is coming out of the Indianapolis and surrounding area, but we've had a large number come up from Louisville, too.'

"She said most of the bus business has been senior citizens taking day trips. They arrive mid morning, stay and try their luck four or five hours, then leave by midafternoon.

"'The response has been very good,' said John Peden, vice president of Southeastern Trailways in Indianapolis…"
