Burswood Hit in Sting22 August 2005AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Australia Sunday Times: "Burswood Casino has fallen victim to a multimillion-dollar international high-roller sting. "Inquiries suggest Burswood and two other casinos may have been the subject of a clever sting by someone regarded as an industry insider. "But it is believed that none of three casinos has filed a criminal complaint with the federal police. "…Burswood was allegedly fleeced of the money by an Asian woman, who worked as a junket operator bringing high-rollers to gamble in Perth. "…She allegedly ran dozens of gambling tours to Australia and the US from the mid-1990s until February 2001. "It was during this time that she allegedly racked up major debts at Burswood, Melbourne's Crown Casino and Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast, a source said. "A writ filed in the Perth Supreme Court last year said Burswood Casino was owed more than $5 million by the woman…" |
