Bursa Malaysia to probe sports betting permit issue9 June 2010KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- A sports betting licence controversy may trigger a probe by Bursa Malaysia of the Berjaya Corporation Berhad's purchase of a stake in Ascot Sports, the Malay Mail reported. The Securities Commission has been urging Bursa to inquire into this plan, but the government denies a license has been issued, the report said. There's some question of whether Berjaya may have mislead the exchange, Malay Mail reported. Recently there has been general controversy around calls to legalize sports betting in Malaysia.
