Bureaucrats Could Lose Their Jobs Over Casino

THAILAND -- As reported by the Nation: ``Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra yesterday threatened to fire any government official who crosses the border to gamble at casinos in Cambodia.

``Thaksin said officials who pass the Aranyaprathet border checkpoint to visit one of the many casinos in Poi Pet would be dismissed from government service, possibly without severance pay, and might even be denied their pension.

``Police have set up closed-circuit television cameras at border checkpoints to monitor people leaving and returning from Cambodia. Most of the people who cross the border at Aranyaprathet are assumed to be going to casinos in Poi Pet because there are no tourist attractions there…"
