British minister fears Olympic betting scandal

2 January 2012

LONDON, England -- British Minister for Sport Hugh Robertson has spoken of concerns that London 2012 olympics could be at risk for fixing and betting scandals, BBC News reported.

The government is now acting to mitigate such security risks with a dedicated intelligence unit in London, the report said.

Robertson also criticized the lack of regulation against spot-fixing in parts of Asia, citing the recent Pakistan cricket scandal, the BBC reported.
