British man files DOJ complaint regarding Anschutz gifts

LONDON, England -- As reported by Biz Journals and the Times of London: "The British businessman who complained to Scotland Yard about gifts Denver entrepreneur Phil Anschutz gave Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott has filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice.

"The Times of London reported Oct. 19 that George Bathurst of Windsor, England, made the complaint, based on U.S. laws banning American business people from trying to bribe foreign officials.

"Anschutz's Los Angeles-based Anschutz Entertainment Group LLC (AEG) is redeveloping London's Millennium Dome venue into the $1.1 billion O2 entertainment complex. Part of that project is a Las Vegas-style supercasino being developed by AEG partner Kerzner International Ltd.

"...Prescott asserts no wrongdoing took place at his meetings with Anschutz, and that The O2's gaming license wasn't discussed. The deputy prime minister further contends he has no say in who gets the license..."
