'Bricks and Clicks' Join Hands to Make Rookie Nights a Winner10 May 2006LONDON, UK -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Blue Square, the UK's leading online betting service has joined forces with its sister company Grosvenor Casinos to launch an inaugural "Rookie Night" on Friday 5th May at The Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London. The aim of the evening was to encourage and educate Blue Square online poker players on how poker is played in an actual bricks and mortar casinos. Forty online Blue Square Poker players and their guests were treated to an amazing night at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in Central London which included complimentary food and drink. Players were taught how to manage blinds and the general etiquette of casino / live poker playing before battling it out in a $3,000 freeze out no limit free roll tournament. Winner of the event and rookie player John Richardson commented: "This is the first time I've played in a real casino after having played Poker online for four months. I have always fancied trying it before but didn't really know what to expect. I've learnt a lot from this evening and definitely feel more comfortable about going to a casino again on my own or with friends. In attendance were poker player Paul Jackson ("Action Jack") and Tim Cambell, last year's winner of 'The Apprentice' who is also a Blue Square member. Unfortunately, despite some expert advice Tim couldn't emulate his fantastic achievements in last years hit show, however, he and everyone else who came along gained valuable experience from the night and have gone home with some valuable experience of live play – not to mention the free merchandise!
