Breeders Cup OTB affected by fires26 October 2007OCEANPORT, New Jersey -- As reported by the San Diego Union Tribune: "The Breeders' Cup World Championships is one of the busiest days of the year for simulcast racing facilities. More than 10,000 outlets worldwide have made arrangements to carry the two-day event that starts tomorrow here at Monmouth Park. "The Barona casino, in the mountains beyond Lakeside, remained closed yesterday, and might be in jeopardy of being unable to open its race book for one of racing's biggest events. Barona casino officials could not be reached for comment. "Earlier in the week Surfside, adjacent to the Del Mar racetrack, was caught up in the horse-and-people evacuations at the Fairgrounds. "...Still, the Breeders' Cup is one of the biggest days of the year for the satellites, ADW and horse racing in general, second to the Kentucky Derby..." |
