“Bras for Breast Cancer” raises $18,000 for American Cancer Society8 November 2011VICKSBURG, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) -– Bejeweled bras, ladybug bras, flower bras, polka-dotted bras, holiday bras…and the list goes on! The 4th Annual “Bras for Breast Cancer” Fundraiser took place on Thursday, November 3rd and was a huge success, besting all previous years’ donations. Riverwalk Casino and Hotel collected 15,694 bras from across the country and even some from Scotland! Having pledged to donate $1 to the American Cancer Society for every bra collected, Riverwalk presented the organization with a check totaling $18,694, which also included a private contribution from a donor in Riverwalk Casino’s corporate office. The bras were strung across the Old Highway 80 Mississippi River Bridge, with a special section featuring fabulously decorated bras, and Riverwalk is proud to announce that this year’s event raised $6,000 more than the 2010 fundraiser. “We are thrilled with the outpouring of support for this year’s fundraiser – there were enough bras to stretch across the Mississippi River and back three times!” says Ginny Tzotzolas, Riverwalk’s marketing director. “Since the inception of this event, we’ve donated nearly $50,000 to the American Cancer Society for the fight against breast cancer and appreciate so much the continued participation of our community and friends – joining together to make a difference is really what it’s all about.” |
