Borgata Workers Get Flu Shots28 October 2004ATLANTIC CITY - In the middle of a flu vaccination shortage, about 500 employees of the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa received flu shots on a first-come first-served basis Oct. 21, casino spokesman Mike Facenda said Tuesday. "'It's important to make sure our employees are in good health,' Facenda said, adding that the flu-shot program was there for the employees' benefit. "'At Borgata, we base our employee relationships on trust,' Facenda said. 'We value our relationships with our associates.' "…Facenda said 1,000 shots were ordered last year for the casino, but only half came this year from California-based distributor Clinical Health Systems for the 4,000-employee company. "I didn't receive a flu shot," said Facenda, 38. "…Flu shots, an issue that even the two presidential candidates tackled, are hard to come by, and because of that, some want to punish those who are giving out shots to those who are not vulnerable…" |
