Borgata to Host World Poker Competition

ATLANTIC CITY -- As reported by the Associated Press: "Some of the world's best poker players will be battling it out later this month under the bright lights of Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa's theater.

"The state Casino Control Commission on Wednesday approved the casino's request to move the final table of the World Poker Tour's Borgata Poker Open into the 1,000-seat Music Box theater. The poker tournament, which pays $25,000 to the winner, will be held at Borgata from Sept. 17-22.

"…The casino was required to seek permission from the commission to temporarily use the Music Box as an approved gaming area for the No Limit Hold'em poker finals. The tournaments' other games and the No Limit Hold'em preliminaries will be held in the Borgata's poker room.

"The Borgata Poker Open is one of 12 tournaments that make up the World Poker Tour. The events are televised by the Travel Channel and rank among the cable network's most watched programs, Corbo said. He said the Borgata event is tentatively scheduled to air for the first time in March 2004…"
