Bookies Cut Odds on Life on Mars

UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the Scotsman: "Bookmakers yesterday cut the odds on the unmanned probe Beagle 2 finding signs of life on Mars.

"The odds were cut by Ladbrokes from 33-1 to 25-1 after a number of bets were placed as the British probe neared its Christmas Day landing.

"…Warren Lush, a Ladbrokes spokesman, said: 'These odds obviously don't represent the true odds on finding life on Mars but we have shortened our price from 33-1 to 25-1 because we have liabilities of hundreds of thousands of pounds on the bet…"
