Bookie Wants Fairer Trading

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the (Australia) Herald Sun: "Outspoken bookmaker Michael Eskander has called on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission to push his cause for fairer trading on international feature races.

"Eskander lashed out after Sunday's Japan Cup.

"Under existing rules, Eskander had to cease betting on the cup at midnight on Saturday, while the Victorian TAB bet right up until start time at 5.20pm Sunday.

"…Eskander said it was unfair to punters not to have another Victorian-based betting option.

"…A spokesman for Victoria's Minister for Gaming and Racing, John Pandazopoulos, said the process was under review.

"…It is understood Eskander's biggest problem is that he is licensed as a sports bookmaker rather than specifically on racing…"
