Bookie Offers Odd on Summer Heat Spell

UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by UK Guardian: "…Temperatures peaked at 31.3C (88F) in central London, reached 31C in Cambridge and exceeded 30C in many parts of the south. But after a sweltering start, a light breeze kept temperatures below the June record of 35.6C, recorded in 1957.

"Fearing a repeat of last year's record-breaking summer, when temperatures topped 100F at Faversham and Gravesend in Kent, bookmakers cut the odds on the mercury passing the new record of 38.5C (101.3F). William Hill is offering 12/1 that temperatures will beat last summer's, bringing down its odds from 20/1…"
