Bookie Calls for Australian Racing Minister's Resignation

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the (Australia) Herald Sun: "Flamboyant bookmaker Michael Eskander has called for the resignation of Racing Minister John Pandazopoulos and associated betting officials.

"Eskander said the lack of support for local bookmakers was damaging the racing industry in Victoria at a time when interstate and international betting exchanges were having a feast.

"…Eskander's outburst follows repeated calls to government and racing officials for a level playing field with interstate bookies, and for them to apply advertising restrictions that are enforced interstate but not in Victoria.

"…Eskander's impatience worsened with news of new betting types coming into play from TabCorp (Mystery 6 and Duet) and a 'pick four placegetters' from Northern Territory bookmaker SportingBet…"
