Blue Chip's Salute to Veterans event nets $26K25 September 2017(PRESS RELEASE) -- Proceeds from the 2017 Salute to our Veterans event to benefit Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder programs were presented to five local agencies at a ceremony on Tuesday, 19 September at 11 a.m. at Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa in Michigan City, Indiana. Representatives from the five agencies receiving the donations, Porter-Starke Services ($5,000), LaPorte Veterans Court ($3,000), Operation Combat Bike Saver ($6,000), Housing Opportunities ($6,000) and Empowering Patriots ($6,000), were on hand for the presentation. The northwest Indiana programs will help veterans in LaPorte, Lake and Porter counties so that their families and friends recognize, understand and obtain resources to treat PTSD, which affects an estimated 30% of men and women who have spent time in war zones. "We would like to thank the community for supporting our veterans and the families affected by PSTD," says Jack Elia, Blue Chip Assistant General Manager, who created the local benefit with LaPorte attorney Douglas Biege. "Our local agencies do important work every day to help those who serve our country." |
