Blue Chip Casino's Spa Blu Tower captured in special edition by local artist11 March 2016(PRESS RELEASE) -- Limited edition posters of a painting by award-winning Michigan City artist Neil Kienitz featuring Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa are now for sale at the Blue Chip Gift Box. The 24-inch by 36-inch poster is available, unframed, for $40. Kienitz captured the elegantly-curved lines of Blue Chip’s Spa Blu Tower in his original painting, which is reminiscent of the iconic South Shore Line posters that were originally produced in the 1920s. His mixed media painting incorporates watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil and ink. Kienitz wanted to showcase Blue Chip’s Spa Blu Tower, which was a familiar sight. “A short while ago, I was living about a half mile from Blue Chip, so I saw Spa Blu Tower go up. It’s such a dramatic feature of the area skyline, particularly at night. The curves I painted in the night sky highlight the vertical curve in the side of the building and at the edge of the canopy.” “Neil is such a talented local artist,” says Blue Chip Vice President and General Manager Lief Erickson. “We were delighted that he could showcase Blue Chip so beautifully.” Kienitz, a lifelong Michigan City resident, has won more than 100 national and regional awards, including two awards of excellence from the Midwest Watercolor Society and more than 30 best of show or first place awards at art exhibitions. His work is held in numerous corporate, institutional and private collections. |
