Blackpool casino supporters won't give up1 February 2007BLACKPOOL, England – As reported by the This is Lancashire: "Key figures in Blackpool are refusing to give up the fight for a super-casino in the resort, despite seeing their dream all but shattered on Tuesday. "The resort was odds-on favourite to land the support of the Casino Advisory Panel (CAP) but were left devastated as rank outsiders Manchester received the CAP's recommendation. "Blackpool Council's head of corporate policy Alan Cavill said: 'We are ruling nothing out, but lobbying the Government to overturn the recommendation or extend the number of licences is the most likely course of action.' "Council leader Roy Fisher said: 'I am shocked at the decision but this is not the end of the road. We will get this debate heard in Parliament again and we will be pushing our case for the casino.'
