Black Oak Casino Hosts Comedy Competition

TUOLUMNE, California – (PRESS RELEASE) -- It's the funniest night planned so far in Black Oak Casino's Willow Creek Lounge Laugh Factory. The San Francisco International Stand Up Comedy Competition is scheduled for Thursday, September 22 at 8 p.m. Admission is free to guests who are twenty-one years of age and older.

Hundreds of comedians audition each year to compete in the Annual San Francisco International Stand Up Comedy Competition. Only thirty are chosen as finalists from these preliminary rounds that are held at some of the most acclaimed venues for stand up comedy. There will be 15 top comics competing at Black Oak Casino's regional qualifier.

Comedy Competition Finalists have gone on to develop successful careers in almost every entertainment genre and include such notable comedians as Robin Williams, who came in 2nd in 1976; Dana Carvey who competed in 1977; Marsha Warfield, Ellen DeGeneres and Mark Curry in 1979; and the list goes on.

The Willow Creek Lounge is the finest small entertainment venue in the region offering outstanding entertainment five nights per week. The Lounge plays host to national and regional touring artists and comedians every weekend, and offers specialty entertainers during the week on a regular basis. In addition, established local artists have the opportunity to showcase their talents on weeknights.

The Willow Creek Lounge is located inside Black Oak Casino, a three-story casino located just east of Sonora in the small town of Tuolumne. The casino is home to over 1,000 slot machines, 24 table games, six bars and restaurants including a specialty dining restaurant, and a family entertainment floor complete with bowling alley and kids' arcade.
