Binion Allowed to Turn Some Slots Back On8 October 2002LAS VEGAS--Binion's Horseshoe had enough extra money available in its casino bankroll Friday to allow the property to place back in service some of the slot machines state regulators forced the casino to turn off last week, Gaming Control Board Chairman Dennis Neilander said. The control board forced the property to turn off about 40 percent of its 1,300 slots, three of its four table game pits and its keno game to make sure its bankroll, the cash reserve intended to make sure casinos have enough money to pay gamblers their winnings, met state standards. Some of the property's $5 reel slot machines were placed back in service by Saturday, although the closed table games and the keno game remained out of service. Neilander declined to say how big the Horseshoe's bankroll was required to be before or after the control board took action last week, but the property indicated in a recent court filing it had to maintain a $1.2 million bankroll. |
