Biloxi gaming community leaders to discuss industry impact29 July 2016(PRESS RELEASE) -- With Mississippi casinos expected to hit $6.5 billion in tax revenue generated for the state by the industry's 25th anniversary next year – enough to fund the entire state budget for a single year – leaders from the Biloxi gaming community, along with the wide range of business and community leaders who partner with the industry, will gather to highlight the impact of the industry on the Gulf Coast on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 9:30 a.m. CDT at IP Casino Resort and Spa. The American Gaming Association (AGA) is organizing the event, its latest as part of the Get to Know Gaming campaign that highlights the role the industry plays in communities across 40 states. Statewide, Mississippi casinos have delivered more than $53 billion in revenue since the first properties opened in 1992. Geoff Freeman, president and CEO of AGA, will discuss how the industry can generate even more revenue in the years to come to ensure gaming remains a strong community partner for the Coast. AGA has hosted similar events in Ohio, Iowa, Colorado, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Across 40 states, casino gaming is a $240 billion industry that supports 1.7 million jobs and generates $38 billion in tax revenue. |
