Bill would merge New York City-area OTBs

NEW YORK -- Legislation that would merge the New York City and Nassau Regional Off-Track Betting has been introduced, according to The Thoroughbred Times.

Once merged they would be called Metropolitan OTB, the Thoroughbred Times reported.

The merger is proposed as a way to avoid devastating job losses in the event of NYC OTB bankruptcy, the report said.

NYC OTB owes $220 million in debt, the Thoroughbred Times report stated.
