Bill Cosby returns to Tulsa on Aug. 713 June 2014(PRESS RELEASE) -- One of America’s greatest comedians of all time is returning Aug. 7, when Bill Cosby brings his “Far From Finished” tour to The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. Tickets start at $45 and go on sale June 26. For decades, Cosby has made audiences laugh with his comedic talents. He became a television fixture and broke television’s racial barrier with “I Spy,” becoming the first African-American to co-star in a dramatic television series while winning three consecutive Emmys. Cosby has captivated generations of fans with his comedy routines, iconic albums and best-selling books, such as “I Didn’t Ask to Be Born, But I’m Glad I Was.” His comedy transcends age, gender and cultural barriers. Most notably, Cosby’s greatest contribution to American entertainment and culture is “The Cosby Show.” The show focused on the affluent Huxtables, a close-knit family in New York City. It featured family-friendly comedy, which has been a staple of Cosby’s routines in all platforms. “The Cosby Show” dominated the No. 1 spot for years, earning nearly unanimous critical praise. The former Navy serviceman’s illustrious list of accomplishments includes roles on the children’s educational show “Electric Company” and creating and producing the Emmy award-winning “Little Bill,” which is based on his best-selling book series. He created and produced the Emmy-winning cartoon “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids,” which began airing in the 1970s and was made into a film in 2004. The show, based on Cosby’s childhood in Philadelphia, was designed to educate and entertain. Cosby’s first television special in 30 years, “Far From Finished,” premiered on Comedy Central last fall. The New England native has won numerous awards for his life’s work, including a Kennedy Center Honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and the Marian Anderson Award. |
