Big Names, at Big Prices, Perform Tonight in Las Vegas

Topping Friday night's calendar is the Barbra Streisand concert at the MGM Grand. Tickets for the 9 p.m. concert run from $500 to $2,500. The MGM Grand will also hold a "Millennium Dance Party" at dance club Studio 54, where it plans to unveil "The Man in the Moon," a piece of artwork created for the original Studio 54 in New York City in the 1970s. Tickets for the party are $200 in advance and $225 at the door.

The Rio Suites hotel-casino will feature the most expensive drink of the evening -- a bottle of Madeira wine from the 1800s, once owned by President Thomas Jefferson. The bottle will be opened at midnight in the Wine Cellar in an event open to the public. Drinks from Jefferson's wine will be going at $2,500 a pour.

Another big party planned is the "Millennium Ball in the South Pacific," slated to run from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Mandalay Bay. Tickets for the formal-dress party are $350 and include a meal and cocktails.

Frankie Avalon, 7:30 p.m., Riviera, $300 (includes dinner and open bar)

Robert Goulet, 8 p.m., Flamingo Hilton, $225

Rod Stewart, 10:30 p.m., the Rio, $400-$1,000

Rodney Dangerfield, 10:30 p.m., MGM Grand, $250 (includes open bar)

Smothers Brothers, 7 p.m., Gold Coast, $150 (includes open bar) and 10:30, the Orleans

The Cult, 11 p.m., Harley Davidson Cafe, $299 (includes food and drinks)

Wayne Newton, 10:30 p.m., the Stardust, $275 (includes drinks)

One of the most exclusive parties of the evening will be at "Star Trek: The Experience" in the Las Vegas Hilton. For $1,000, guests will experience a New Year's Eve party on the deck of the Starship Enterprise. The party starts at 7:30 p.m., but is limited to just 100 attendees.
