Big lotto win safe from tax payment

CANADA -- Double fortune for Canadians with lottery wins was highlighted recently in the case of a couple from the Sagkeeng First Nation, who won $50 million in Lotto Max, reports The Star-Phoenix.

Lottery wins are generally tax free in Canada unless you are a professional gambler.

Gambling is a vital source of funding for provincial governments and charities, the report noted.
