Bicycle Casino hosts children's party20 December 2006BELL GARDENS, California – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Bicycle Casino will continue its long-standing philanthropic tradition with it's annual Children's Christmas Party for over 1,700 underprivileged children from the surrounding community! One of its most elaborate and well-known charitable projects, the 22nd annual Children's Christmas Party will be held on Thursday, December 21st at The Bicycle Casino. The staff has worked tirelessly to put together a day of fun and enjoyment dedicated to the underprivileged children. Set in a carnival-type atmosphere, this year's event includes rides, games, an inflatable slide, pony rides, a DJ, clowns, face painting, train rides and petting zoo. All the children invited will have the opportunity to meet and take their photo with Santa Claus, along with being given a gift, goodies and a hosted lunch. This is a ticketed event limited to children who were qualified by the City of Bell Gardens and the local Montebello school district. In addition, a limited number of tickets were given to the Rio Hondo Boys and Girls Club, Rancho Los Amigos Hospital, the Sonshine Youth Organization, the Salvation Army, as well as the Bell Gardens Police Department and L.A. County Fire Station 39. Managing Partner, Haig Kelegian, said, "This is an event we eagerly anticipate every year. The holidays are a wonderful opportunity for us to give back to our community. We are proud to be able to make a difference to those who are less fortunate and we hope that our efforts will allow these families to enjoy their holidays just a bit more!" Another worthy cause is the Rancho Los Amigos Hospital's Christmas Party. For the past 18 years, The Bicycle Casino has sponsored a Christmas party for the disabled children that either live at the hospital or are admitted during the holidays. This year, the party was held on December 14th, 2006. Tracie Thomas, a representative from the casino, works vigorously every year to make this day special for the children, including purchasing 2 gifts for each child. Julie Helgren, Recreational Therapist for Rancho Los Amigos, coordinated with the casino to put together a list including the children's names and gifts they would most like to receive from Santa Claus. The gifts were wrapped and delivered to the children at the hospital by Santa Claus himself! They also were able to enjoy goodies and take photos with a Snowman, a Reindeer, and a walking Christmas Tree! This community eagerly celebrates these 2 special holiday events each year, and the Bike's family is proud to participate in bringing Christmas to so many children and their families. |
