BIA approves Wisconsin tribal casino

WISCONSIN – As reported by the Business Journal of Milwaukee: "The federal Bureau of Indian Affairs Midwest office in Minneapolis has recommended the approval of the Menimonee Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin's proposed $808 million entertainment center and casino at Dairyland Greyhound Park in Kenosha.

"The Menominee Tribe said Wednesday that regional BIA officials said the tribe's proposal meets the most important test required for approval - the so-called 'two-part' determination that the project would benefit the Menominee Tribe and not be a detriment to the local community.

"…Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle must also approve the proposal before the entertainment center can be built.

"…The Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin announced plans to build an $808 million entertainment center and casino at Kenosha's Dairyland Greyhound Park in January 2004…"
