Betfred Totepool selects Sportech Racing and Digital as key technology partner10 July 2014ATLANTA, Georgia -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Sportech Racing and Digital, a division of Sportech PLC, (LSE: SPO), have been selected by UK-based Betfred, owner of Totepool (formerly UK Tote), to provide a comprehensive Quantum System tote, along with a slate of Sportech's latest technologies for land-based and digital wagering, and a comprehensive package of services. In total, Betfred will receive a Quantum System, G4 digital wagering framework, the new Digital Link™ mobile suite, and on-going maintenance and support. The sale, with an additional 10-year maintenance & support and licensing agreement, is expected to generate a total contract value of US$ 15 Million. On going terminal hardware procurements will continue as well, under agreements previously struck between the companies. Implementation of Sportech's Quantum System will allow Betfred to simplify Totepool operational, business and IT systems, make their products available for distribution to worldwide tote markets, and provide access to additional pools and bet types. New betting technologies – including Sportech's new Digital Link™ mobile suite, with patented digital voucher functionality – will improve the consumer experience at the sixty UK racecourses Betfred serves, with cutting-edge account wagering, mobile, online and self-service wagering options. The agreement between Sportech and the Betfred Group to supply Totepool with a turnkey tote solution for Totepool's UK and international business is the culmination of several months work, during which time Totepool assessed a number of alternative opportunities. Managing Director Philip Siers said: "The new Quantum System, coupled with the Digital™ Link and G4 modules will anchor our tote offering going forward, and with the additional flexibility and market reach it gives us, we expect significant growth in our pools products. I am confident that this strategic partnership will be good for both our businesses, and I look forward to next year, when the initial system will be delivered. This is a major investment for Totepool, and it demonstrates our further commitment to horse racing, and a desire to see our pools betting operation, lead the way in technological innovation and racecourse service." Andrew Gaughan, President of Sportech Racing and Digital, added: "Sportech Racing and Digital is proud to have been selected by Betfred for this important initiative, and as their key long term technology partner. We are pleased not only that Betfred have identified Quantum System and G4 as the solutions that will help them achieve their business goals, but also that they will be the first Sportech customer in Europe to implement the new Digital Link™ mobile suite, and its patented digital voucher functionality, to offer their bettors the most cutting edge methods for wagering. Finally, we are very pleased to be in the position to help Betfred expand distribution of their exotic wagering products, including the very popular Scoop6 pool, to a worldwide customer base. With a May 2014 Scoop6 pool total reaching US$ 31 million on a multi week rollover, this should be of great interest to the global betting marketplace and place it among the leading super exotic pools in horse racing." |
