Berkley, Gibbons to Lead Group2 February 2005Las Vegas Sun WASHINGTON -- Rep. Jim Gibbons, R-Nev., and Rep. Shelley Berkley, D-Nev., will lead the Congressional Gaming Caucus for the next two years, Gibbon's office announced Tuesday. Former Nevada Republican Reps. Barbara Vucanovich and Republican Sen. John Ensign, who served in the House at time, along with Rep. Frank LoBiondo, R-N.J., created the caucus in 1995 to educate other members of Congress on the full impact gaming has on a state's economy. Gibbon and Berkley will serve as the caucus co-chairman and are "eager to educate" fellow lawmakers on the importance of the industry to Nevada's economy and the thousands of people it employs in the state and across the country. American Gaming Association President Frank Fahrenkopf supported the bipartisan leadership of the caucus, which he said will "make this group more vocal and effective in representing the interests of the gaming industry."
