Belgian Gaming Commission sets new limit on weekly player deposits

13 April 2020

Last week, the Belgian Gaming Commission introduced a new €500 monthly deposit limit for online casino players in Belgium, a restriction that will remain in effect until the country's COVID-19 lockdown comes to an end.

Below is the Facebook post from the BGC, dated 6 April 2020:

Mandatory deposit limit: up to EUR 500 per week

As a player, you can charge up to 500 euros per week on your online playing bills. This limit applies per individual player and over all licensed websites. This means you can't charge more than EUR 500 to your player account today. This measure is here to protect the players.

Currently it is not possible to allow an increase in this limit.

On the other hand, you can already apply for a reduction in this limit. You can do this via the gambling website yourself. A reduction is always granted. This reduction shall be applied immediately.

You can still request later then to adjust your limit up to a maximum of EUR 500 An increase shall be applied from three days after its application.

If a gambling operator does not comply with these legal limits, you can report it to us via info@gamingcommission.be. If you were effectively disadvantaged, the amount must be refunded immediately. Among other things, the Gaming Committee can proceed to sanction the licensing holders who do not comply with the legal rules.
